Hello, my name is Frank Gallegos and I have been living in DeKalb, IL for the past three years. I recently completed my third year at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and I am looking forward to starting my fourth year at NIU. I am a proud first generation Latino student from Mexican descent who grew up in Blue Island, IL. I am fortunate to be the first one in my family to have an opportunity to pursue a college degree and I do not take that for granted.
I am currently in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language with an emphasis in Spanish and Business Translation. I am confident that these degrees will provide me with the opportunity to further my life goals of helping others and giving back to my community. Upon graduation, I plan to seek employment opportunities that can best suite my interest in communication, advertising, and marketing strategies. I am confident that any experiences I encounter will provide me with the opportunity to grow as a person and as a professional in my field of study.
Although a native of Blue Island, IL. I have learned to make DeKalb my home away from home and I am excited to embrace the opportunity presented to me by #ProudlyDeKalb. I am excited to share my perspective and learn as much as I can from others. I am thrilled to work with a group of leaders who believe in bettering our community and upholding the standards that the City of DeKalb deserves. DeKalb has many great things to offer along with a valuable amount of history. As a member of #ProudlyDeKalb I plan to do my best to create more awareness of the great things that DeKalb has to offer and continue to embrace the culture that currently exists in the hopes of creating a more united City of DeKalb.
