The children and caregivers who attend the weekly story time at the DeKalb Public Library received a surprise this week. Members of the DeKalb Fire Department came by to participate during Fire Safety week. Deputy Chief Jeff McMaster read to the children during story time on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and gave a little lesson on fire safety. Then everyone went outside where firefighters showed them one of the fire trucks and ambulances! The kids were able to go into the cab, see the firefighters in gear, and touch some of the fire equipment like hoses and tanks. We love the DeKalb Fire Department because of their willingness to inform our families in such a fun way.
