Lion’s Park Grand Opening

The DeKalb Park District held a grand opening celebration for the newly renovated Lion’s Park on Saturday, July 22nd. Following the ribbon cutting, refreshments were served and there were a variety of games and activities such as, sand volleyball, bags competitions, horseshoe games and basketball. The new playground, trails, and council ring were also open.

The renovation of Lion’s Park was made possible through an OLSAD (Open Space Lands Acquisition & Development) grant that is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  OSLAD projects vary from small neighborhood parks to large community and county parks and nature areas.  The OSLAD grant program is funded through real estate transfer taxes, which are dedicated for this purpose.
